Kevin Hart Jokes About Kevin Durant's Mom After NBA Finals Win: You Still Get 'Spankings'
Kevin Durant on Monday won his first NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors forward accomplished a lot over the course of his career, even winning the Finals MVP award. His accolades should garner more respect from everyone — except, it seems, from comedian Kevin Hart.
Hart recorded video congratulating the Warriors Forward on winning the NBA Finals. He poked fun at the way Durant’s mother Wanda Durant, who seemed to scold him during the post-game celebration at Oracle Arena.
“Congratulations are in order for my man KD,” the comedian said. “I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t think it was going to happen. But you did it. So I’m going to congratulate you, humbly, on finally getting your ring.”
But that wasn't all he had to say.
“I’m going to tell you what I did notice, you’re still getting your ass whopped by your momma,” Hart continued. “I saw the way your momma was gripping you up on that court, Mama Durant is still whipping that ass. You’re still getting spankings, I know you’re getting spankings.”

The comedian made the video in jest, and he assured fans he has nothing but respect for the Durant Family.
"Mama Durant, nothing but love for you too," Hart said. "But I know you’re still whipping that ass."
The relationship between Durant and his mother has been public since 2014, when he earned the league MVP. He spoke of his mother highly and emotionally declared in his acceptance speech how special his mom was to him. "Mom, you're the real MVP," he said.
Durant and his brother were Tony grew up in Prince George's County in a single parent household. They were raised by their mom after their parents got divorced. In his 2014 MVP speech, Durant acknowledged the sacrifices his mother made to make sure he and his brother were comfortable growing up.

"You waking me up in the middle of the night in the summertime, making me run up a hill," he said in the speech. "Making me do pushups. Screaming at me from the sideline at my games at 8 or 9 years old. We weren't supposed to be here. You made us believe, you kept us off the street. You put clothes on our backs, food on the table. When you didn't eat, you made sure we ate. You went to sleep hungry. You sacrificed for us. You're the real MVP."
Durant’s mother has been in full support of her son over the years and it is even evident on Twitter. His mom is an avid Twitter user and a good majority of her tweets are in defense of her son.
During the post-game celebration in the arena, Durant told everyone in attendance what his mom meant to him.
“She’s seen me as a kid putting in work. She’s seen how I come home after losses and how tough I take it … it feels good to see it come full circle,” he said.
When he was awarded his Finals MVP trophy, Durant had even more loving words for his mother.
“We did it. I told you when I was 8 years old. We did it.”
