Kevin Spacey shared a Christmas-themed video on his official YouTube channel and offered compassion to those who have been struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two-minute and 25-second clip, titled “1-800 XMAS,” began with Spacey sitting on a park bench outdoors as he sent a message to those who are suffering this year.
“That's right, what would Christmas Eve be without a message from me,” he said, repeating himself. “That's right, what would Christmas Eve be without a message from me.”
Spacey then grabs the camera and starts to walk while delivering his message. The actor noted that a lot of people have reached out to him in 2020 to share their “struggles” and some even spoke to him about wanting to end their lives.
“ Listen, a lot of people have reached out to me this past year and have shared their struggles. And my ability to be there for them has only been possible because of my difficulties,” Spacey said in the video.
The “House of Cards” star does not delve further into these struggles but encouraged fans to seek help. Spacey also assured the people experiencing such difficulties that they are “not alone.”
“If you’re suffering, if you need help if you feel guilt or shame if you’re struggling with your identity, if your back’s up against the wall, or if you feel that there is no path for you, whatever your situation, I promise you there is a path. At this time during this holiday and beyond, even if you don’t feel it, there are people out there who understand and who can help because you are not alone,” Spacey noted.
The video ends with Spacey wishing all his fans a very “Merry Christmas” and sharing a phone number for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration hotline.
The actor has made it a tradition to release such videos on Christmas Eve since 2018.
Spacey has been virtually blacklisted by Hollywood after actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual assault three years ago. He was replaced by Christopher Plummer in the movie “All The Money In The World” and was fired from the hit Netflix series “House Of Cards.”
As of late, more than 30 men have come forward with sexual assault allegations against the Hollywood star. Spacey has denied all the allegations.
