Khloé Kardashian, Lamar Odom Divorce: ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ Star Files Legal Paperwork Once Again
It’s the end of an era — Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom are officially on their way to being divorced. The couple initially separated in December 2013, filing documents that were left incomplete for more than two years.
According to E! Online, Kardashian filed divorce documents for a second time on Thursday. The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star cited irreconcilable differences as the main reason for their split. This is the same reason she gave on the original documents, filed in 2013. Attorney Laura Wasser is said to have gone to the courts this morning to request that the old documents be discarded. That request was granted and the original divorce was declared over, allowing them to move forward with the current paperwork.
News of Kardashian’s filing comes just one day after reports that she was waiting for the right moment to strike. People magazine reported that the divorce was never “officially off,” but rather the timing wasn’t right. Kardashian did not want to divorce Odom too soon after his October 2015 accident as she was fearful that the bad news may send him into a downward spiral.
There was brief chatter about the former couple reuniting during a Season 12 episode of “KUWTK.” During the show Kardashian and her family jetted to New York for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 presentation at Madison Square Garden. With a little urging from Kim Kardashian, the 31-year-old agreed to allow Odom to tag along. During a flight home, Odom asked his estranged wife to show him photos from the hospital and she obliged. That conversation led to another, involving Kris Jenner, during which there was discussion of a potential second marriage. Khloé was open to the idea, joking that if there would be a second marriage they should skip the wedding. She did, however, tell Odom that she’d like to end their first marriage before considering a second.
Khloé first filed for divorce from Odom in December 2013. The paperwork was awaiting one final signature, which never came. Around the time the former NBA star was hospitalized, with doctors fearful he might not make it, Khloé began receiving threats from the court regarding the longevity of the documents. According to TMZ, the “KUWTK” star had been warned several times that the final signature was time sensitive and failure to meet their deadline would result in them being discarded.
As one Kardashian marriage comes to a close, another is beginning. Rob Kardashian is gearing up to head down the aisle with Blac Chyna. The couple announced in April they had gotten engaged after just a few months of dating. Shortly after, on May 6, the model shared some more shocking news — she and Rob are expecting a child together. Little is known about the baby at this time, but it is believed that Blac Chyna is due in the fall.
Neither Khloé nor her estranged husband has spoken about their divorce plans.
