Kim Kardashian, Janet Jackson Winners of 2011 PETA 'Celebrity Grinch Awards'
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has named Kim Kardashian and Janet Jackson as winners of their first Celebrity Grinch Awards due to their famous (or rather infamous) animal-unfriendly wardrobe.
Talking about their new award category, the Virginia-based animal rights organization said that they have teamed up with World Entertainment News Network to circulate a Christmas Eve list of the most animal-unfriendly celebrities of the year.
Jackson was slammed by PETA for collaborating with fashion label Blackglama after she designed a fur collection for them from the highest quality mink in the world.
When Janet Jackson had her infamous wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own-unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion, said PETA while naming the Celebrity Grinch award winners.
However, neither Jackson nor Blackglama responded to the harsh remarks of PETA.
The second celebrity who has been named the 2011 winner is the fur-loving American reality star Kim Kardashian.
Earlier, in a statement on their Web site, PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange wrote that Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive. We've explained it to her, and she's watched a video expose that was filmed inside fur farms. When Kim is ready to put an end to her relationship with fur, PETA will be happy to take her discards and donate them to the homeless.
Khloe Kardashian, however, is a strong PETA supporter and has also starred in her own PETA anti-fur ad.
