Kim Kardashian has come under fire after an alleged former employee accused the reality star of paying low wages.

Jessica DeFino, a beauty reporter, took to Twitter on Tuesday (June 30), and claimed that she had to buy groceries at the 99 Cents Only Store when she worked as an editor on the Kardashian-Jenner official apps. The Kardashians reportedly reprimanded her when she took up other freelancing work to supplement her income.

These claims were made in response to a tweet from Kim where she showed off the horses she owned at her sprawling Wyoming ranch. Sharing photos of a giant Friesian horse, the KKW Beauty founder said that she owned "14 gorgeous Friesians on the ranch.”

In a separate tweet, DeFino wrote, "To be clear: Love the 99 Cents Only Store, fantastic produce department. And the freelancing thing was in my contract.”

"It’s an awful, exploitative policy that makes sure eager, inexperienced, & poorly paid employees remain inexperienced & poorly paid,” she continued.

DeFino’s Linkedin page claims she worked for the Kardashians between May 2015 and July 2016.

Meanwhile, another beauty writer echoed DeFino’s sentiments. Replying to DeFino’s tweet, Elizabeth Denton wrote on Twitter that the Kardashians had her do a “10 page edit test on Christmas Eve and then ghosted me.”

DeFino’s tweet received a lot of attention on Twitter as it came just hours after it was revealed that the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star has become a billionaire after selling part of her makeup company KKW Beauty to Coty.

Slamming Kim for underpaying her employee, one critic wrote: “Billionaires don't create wealth, they harvest it.”

Kim’s recent deal with Coty has her overtaking Kylie Jenner on the rich list.

Jenner had been on Forbes’ self-made billionaire list, but she was stripped of her title for reportedly inflating figures and "forging" tax returns.

Denying that she misrepresented her business’ financials, Kylie wrote on Twitter: “I’ve never asked for any title or tried to lie my way there EVER. Period.”
