Kim Minor, School Teacher In Louisiana, Accused Of Sexual Contact With Student
A Gretna, Louisiana, public school teacher was arrested Tuesday evening after it was alleged he had illicit sexual contact with a student, police said. The social studies teacher and baseball coach at Thomas Jefferson High School was identified as Kim Minor.
Gretna Police Capt. Russell Lloyd said the teacher got involved in prohibited sexual contact with a female student. No other details about the incident were immediately clear.
According to local media the Advocate, Gabrielle Misfeldt of the Jefferson Parish Public School System said Minor was placed on paid administrative leave. The accusations were being investigated by Gretna police.
In Louisiana, it is illegal for an educator to engage in sexual activity with a student, even if the latter is an adult and has given consent to sexual activity.
Last year, two teachers at Destrehan High School in Louisiana were arrested after being accused of having a threesome with a 16-year-old male student. Shelley Dufresne and Rachel Respess were identified as the two teachers. The student appeared in court and admitted secretly recording one of the women sleeping after sex as “proof” to show to his fellow football players.
“Later on that night was the first time that Shelly and I had intercourse,” the teen told Judge Danyelle Taylor of the 24th Judicial District Court at the time.
In another incident also from last year, former Destrehan High School teacher Kimberly Naquin admitted carrying on an almost year-long sexual relationship with a then-16-year-old student. Naquin pleaded guilty carnal knowledge of a juvenile and prohibited sexual contact between a teacher and a student. The victim also testified at the time that Naquin, her world history teacher, first began trying to kindle a relationship with her one week after her 16th birthday.
