King Von’s Fans In Mourning After Rapper Dies From Gun Fight Injuries

The rapper King Von, real name Dayvon Bennett, has been fatally shot in Atlanta during a gunfight outside a nightclub. Statements from the Atlanta police department indicate that six people were shot in total with three mortalities, Complex reports. Fans and fellow musicians mourned on social media, driving multiple threads on the subject to the top of Twitter trending even during a hotly contested presidential election.

According to the police report, what began as a physical altercation between two groups of men quickly escalated into gunfire. Two police offers were already on the scene following an earlier shooting and exchanged shots with the group. Neither officer was injured and there is no evidence the two shootings were related, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The police department will not confirm the identities of those involved until they can reach their next of kin, but statements from friends and colleagues on social media indicated that both King Von and his manager were involved, with King Von succumbing to his injuries and his manager surviving.

A police spokesperson said that at this early stage in the investigation it seems that King Von was killed during the initial altercation, not by the police.

Social media was quickly flooded with grieving fans and peers. Many noted that he is survived by his three children and girlfriend, fellow rapper Misharron Jermeisha Allen also known as Asian Doll. He had released his third album only one week ago.
