'A Kismet Christmas' Hallmark Movie Premiere: Cast, Trailer, Synopsis
Hallmark Channel's merry holiday season continues with the newest "Countdown to Christmas" holiday premiere, "A Kismet Christmas." the film, starring Sarah Ramos, Carlo Marks and Marilu Henner, premieres Sunday night.
The film is set to be a treat for Hallmark fans, as it teams up veterans and newbies in this holiday tale. Ramos, who is best known for her roles as Haddie Braverman on "Parenthood" and Patty Pryor on "American Dreams" is a newbie for the network, meaning fans may be getting their first introduction to her.
As for her co-stars, Marks is likely familiar to Hallmark fans for his role as David Peck on "Chesapeake Shores," though he has also starred in several films, including the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries title "Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday." His credits on Hallmark Channel have included the films "Moonlight in Vermont," "Love in Store," "Christmas with the Darlings" and "Making Spirits Bright."
Henner, who is a legend both on and off Hallmark for her numerous roles in TV and film over a long career, is also not new to Hallmark. She has previously starred as Aida Teagarden in the Aurora Teagarden series of films on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and also held roles in the Hallmark Channel films "Love, Lights Hanukkah" and "A Kiss Before Christmas."
Rubi Tupper ("A Christmas Miracle for Daisy") also stars.
So what can fans expect from this film? Let's find out.
"Best-selling children's author Sarah Collins (Ramos) has a family legend: if you sleep with one of her Gramma Mia's Kismet cookies under your pillow on Christmas Eve, you'll dream of your true love," a synopsis reads. "But when Sarah tried it years ago and then confessed her love to Travis (Marks), the boy living next door, she ended up with a broken heart."
Now, back in town again, Sarah unexpectedly finds a connection to the man she used to love.
"Now Sarah's back in town, and in a surprising twist, Jasmine (Tupper), the winner of the Christmas contest and Sarah's #1 fan, turns out to be Travis's young daughter," the synopsis continues. "When Sarah sees Travis again, the same feelings bubble up but this time, she's determined to keep them to herself. But this proves tough as they reconnect and rebuild their relationship."
Now, Sarah begins to wonder if the magic from her grandma's cookies is still there, as she ponders if this time, she will get her happy ending.
"Gramma Mia (Henner), upon realizing the power of the Kismet cookie, has refused to make them since Sarah's heartbreak," the synopsis concludes. "With the urging of some old friends, Sarah makes a fresh batch to see if the magic of the cookies is still here and if they can help open some hearts to love just in time for Christmas."
"A Kismet Christmas" airs Sunday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. EDT on Hallmark Channel.
