'Kitchen Nightmare' Contestants Amy's Baking Company Insult Everyone In Complete Online Meltdown
The baking instruction "cool for 15 minutes" might be good advice for the owners of Arizona-based Amy’s Baking Company following their disastrous appearance on the popular Fox network show “Kitchen Nightmares.”
Amy and Samy Bouzaglo have been embroiled in an online meltdown since the recent episode where notoriously angry chef/host Gordon Ramsey walked out of their restaurant, claiming they were beyond hope.
On the May 10 episode, the Bouzaglos swore at customers who criticized their food and ultimately revealed that they resold cakes made by other bakeries at a higher price. After Ramsay stormed out, viewers on Reddit and Yelp began a social media shaming campaign, leading to a barrage of one-star reviews on the Amy’s Baking Company Yelp page.
On Monday night, the Bouzaglos had a full-scale Internet meltdown, complete with insults to just about everyone. Bizarre reactionary posts by the Bouzaglos began appearing on Amy’s Baking Company’s Facebook page, collected by the blog Eater. The posts start out defensive and spiral into obscenity-laced threats.
“I AM NOT STUPID ALL OF YOU ARE. YOU JUST DO NOT KNOW GOOD FOOD. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO RESELL THINGS WALMART DOES NOT MAKE THEIR ELECTRONICS OR TOYS SO LAY OFF!!!!” one post read.
While "Kitchen Nightmares" is a relatively popular show, the backlash against Amy's Baking Company remained largely contained until Reddit began posting more about the owners' reactions. Before long, more threads had appeared on Reddit to mock Amy’s Baking Company and its owners, which only added fuel to their fire. More attention from Reddit led to more reactionary comments from Amy's Baking Company, which ultimately led to the event going viral across the Internet.
“WE DO NOT NEED THIS. YOU STUPID PEOPLE. AMERICA IS ABOUT RESSLING, IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL,” read one post, responding to the fact that Amy’s Baking Company routinely resells cakes by other bakeries.
“THE CAKES WE OFFER ARE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE WE HAVE TO REPACKAGE AND SHIP. DO NOT BLAME US BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT AFFORD QUALITY. THE YELPERS, AND NOW THE REDDITS, NEED TO BACK OFF. YOURE NOT RIGHT JUST BECAUSE OF SOME TV SHOW."
“WE ARE NOT FREAKING OUT. WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT A ‘WITCH HUNT’ I AM NOT A WITCH. I AM GODS CHILD. PISS OFF ALL OF YOU. F**K REDDITS, F**K YELP AND F**K ALL OF YOU. BRING IT. WE WILL FIGHT BACK,” read another post.
Before long, the Facebook postings had devolved into full-on threats to Redditors and Yelpers.
“To all of the Yelpers and Reddits: Bring it on. you are just p***ies. come to arizona,” one post read. “you are weaker than my wife, and weaker than me. come to my business. say it to my face. man to man. my wife is a jewel in the desert. you are just trash. reddits and yelpers just working together to bring us down. pathetic.”“This is Samy. I am keeping note of all names here. We will be pursuing action against you legaly, and against reddit and yelp, for this plot you have come together on,” read another. “you are all just punks.”
Several posts appear to have been deleted by Tuesday, but some still remain online.
