Klopp Sends Message To Man Utd’s Top Target, His Latest Statement Might Not Go Well With Red Devils

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said that a red shirt will look “very good” on Jadon Sancho before adding that he does not see the Dortmund midfielder joining the Reds this summer.

It was earlier reported that the transfer fee of Sancho, who has been Manchester United’s top target ahead of the upcoming transfer window, was increased from $124 million to $146 million. Also, he would join a club only if they will be playing in the Champions League next season. As the Premier League table stands now, Man Utd will not qualify for the European tournament for the 2020-21 campaign.

Even though Solskjaer, who is desperate to sign Sancho this summer, has competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool in Sancho’s case, it is understood that all the clubs are put off by the player’s asking price. Klopp, whose side have sealed the Premier League title race for the 2019-20 campaign, has also mentioned that he sees Sancho stay at Germany’s Dortmund for at least another season.

“I don’t think such a transfer will take place this summer,” said Klopp about Sancho’s possible move this summer from Dortmund in an interview with a German publication Bild.

When asked about the 29-year-old's possible move to Liverpool, Klopp replied, "A red jersey will look very good on Jadon Sancho. But I don’t see him signing for Liverpool this summer. He is a very interesting player. If he moved to Liverpool, I would be the most surprised of all.”

Klopp’s side has bagged the league title after waiting for 30 long years and it is their maiden Premier League trophy. With Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Manchester City last week, Liverpool ended the title race mathematically and by doing so with seven games to spare, Liverpool have clinched the earliest league title win in the history of the tournament.

When asked if Liverpool’s remainder season, Klopp said, "This team doesn’t need a break. I cannot promise that we will dominate football now, nor do I know if it is time to talk about major upheavals, but I know that our goal is to keep the team’s tribe together. The boys are currently in a great football age.”

Liverpool will next take on last season’s winners Man City, who will give the Reds, the current champions of England, a guard of honor at Etihad Stadium next month.
