In Episode 1 of "Komi Can't Communicate," the students of Itan Private High School were mesmerized to see Komi.

In the locker area, she bumped into Tadano, who was introduced as a cowardly kid. Tadano’s goal was to pass the high school without standing out.

Like his schoolmates, he was awestruck when he saw Komi run past her.

Later, Tadano, who wanted a peaceful high school life, realized Komi will be sitting with him in the class.

On the first day of school, Komi rose to the status of school’s Madonna. He was happy to share the desk with the prettiest girl in school. However, he noticed glances filled with envy from his classmates.

He was paranoid and wondered if they wished death upon him just to grab his seat and sit next to Komi.

He realized he can forget the whole peaceful high-school life. During all this, Komi didn’t utter a word and Tadano understood she was not good at communicating with others.

However, Komi and Tadano developed a bond over chalk and the blackboard and found a way to talk to each other. And that day, she found her first friend in him.
