Kris Humphries 'Happy' Kim Kardashian Divorce Is Over; But Isn't He The One Who Prolonged It?
Kris Humphries is thrilled that his marriage to celebrity superstar Kim Kardashian is finally over. The NBA player said he was all smiles after their 72-day marriage was legally finished off 18 months later on April 19.
While the 32-year-old fashionista has since shacked up with rapper Kanye West and is expecting her first child in July, Humphries says he’s single. “I don't have any [girlfriends] right now," Us Weekly quoted Humphries telling reporters at the “Man of Steel” premiere in New York City on Monday. "I'm happy. I've got a big smile on my face."
It seems odd the Nets star would claim to be happy, considering he delayed the court proceedings for months. So much so, in fact, that Kardashian feared she would still be married to Humphries when her baby arrived, she said on the newest season of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
After getting married on Aug. 20, 2011, Kardashian filed for divorce on Oct. 31, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Until April they’ve been engaging in a bitter battle, with Humphries claiming Kardashian defrauded him. He said she only married him for her reality show.
“He also realized that he didn’t have a chance in hell of proving that Kim defrauded him,” a source told Radar Online back in April. “In the end, his lawyers were able to finally make him recognize that not only would he be missing out on the playoffs with the Nets, but would likely be ordered to pay Kim’s legal fees.
“Kris recognized it was a sh*t sandwich and chose to settle.”
Now that his Kardashian drama is over, the 28-year-old athlete told Us Weekly he’s ready to move on with his life and focus on his career. "You can't force a love life," Humphries said. "I'm just focused on training and basketball."
