Krispy Kreme New Menu: Donut Chain Opens New North Carolina Shop With New Layout, Items
Krispy Kreme is going with a new look.
The global doughnut and coffeehouse chain announced a new location Tuesday outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, that will present the first revamp to a Krispy Kreme storefront in nearly 10 years.
It features a digital menu board, which will be easier to adjust and promote any new products Krispy Kreme might be offering. Seating has also been slightly changed to offer more counter-seating, akin to a bar, and also offers a refreshed “theater experience” to see how the doughnuts are made.
But the biggest change is the refreshed menu that offers all kinds of new sugary treats. The new items include “scoop sandwiches,” a sliced doughnut with ice cream stuffed with doughnuts that come with an assortment of toppings. Milkshakes are also joining the menu made from the doughnut ice cream that can be topped with more doughnuts.
Another notable addition comes in the form of a “doughnut bar” that will allow customers to top their doughnuts with a choice of five glazes and ten toppings.
“This new shop experience honors the heritage of Krispy Kreme while at the same time acknowledging and addressing the rising expectations of our customers,” Andy Skehan, President, North America, Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation, said in a press release. “From our time-tested process of producing the world’s most loved doughnuts to our new Original Glazed Doughnut infused ice cream, we’re very excited for what the future holds.”
The North Carolina-based company says that this is just the start.
There are plans for Krispy Kreme to open nearly 450 new shops worldwide by the end of 2022, with 45 in the U.S. over the next year. Krispy Kreme boasts nearly 1,400 retail shops in 33 countries.
The company appears to be looking to make a big splash in New York City’s Times Square, with a store that will be open 24 hours a day and feature a glaze waterfall.
Krispy Kreme will also begin remodeling 350 of its shops across the U.S.
Luxembourg-based JAB Holding acquired Krispy Kreme in 2016 for roughly $1.35 billion.
