Kristen Saban, Daughter Of Alabama Coach Nick Saban, Seeks Dismissal Of Sorority Sister Sarah Grimes' Lawsuit
Kristen Saban, the daughter of University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban, is asking a Tuscaloosa County judge to dismiss a lawsuit alleging she injured a sorority sister in a fight stemming from a Facebook post.
Kristen Saban, a senior at Alabama, filed a motion Thursday in Tuscaloosa County Court to dismiss the lawsuit from former friend Sarah Grimes, claiming she acted in self-defense during a fight in September 2010 and also said she did not cause any injuries Grimes claimed to have suffered.
Sarah Grimes filed the lawsuit against Kristin Saban on June 26, alleging Kristin Saban attacked her after Grimes told her to shut up for complaining about her life.
According to Grimes' lawsuit, Saban posted a Facebook status saying, No one likes Sarah! Yayyyyy!
The post led to a confrontation between Saban and Grimes, and the lawsuit claims Saban turned violent and shoved Sarah into a corner of a room in the home they were living in.
Kristen immediately used both of her hands and shoved Sarah into the corner of [roommate] Courtney's open door, slamming Sarah's head, the lawsuit claimed. Sarah defended herself by pushing Kristen into the opposite wall, saying 'Don't touch me.'
Kristen Saban then proceeded to punch Sarah Grimes multiple times in her head and nose, and to pull Sarah's hair, even though Kristen knew that Sarah had really bad migraines from a prior head injury from an automobile accident, the lawsuit claims.
The lawsuit filed by Sarah Grimes said she was taken to a hospital and that she now suffers from repeated night terrors, anxiety, physical trembling, fears of dying from brain injuries, trouble sleeping, and intrusive recollections of the event.
Kristin Saban denies each and every material allegation of the plaintiff's Complaint, demands strict proof thereof, and specifically denies that the plaintiff is entitled to recover damages from this defendant, according to her motion to dismiss the Sarah Grimes lawsuit.
Saban also accused Grimes of being the first aggressor in this incident and therefore she acted in self-defense.
Kristin Saban is asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit on a multitude of grounds. A transcript of the motion was obtained by WBRC in Tuscaloosa and can be viewed here.
Sarah Grimes' lawsuit claimed Saban had a violent nature and committed previous assaults on others.
The lawsuit and subsequent motion to dismiss the case is the talk of Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama.
The school's football team, coached by Kristin Saban's father, Nick Saban, is the defending BCS champions.
Kristin Saban getting sued for beating someone's face in... Way to show your class, Bammer nation, said Hoover, Ala., resident Andrew Molony, on Twitter.
Apparently Kristin Saban is more intense than her dad. WOW! said Jarrod Skinner.
I seriously have no idea of where Kristin Saban got that temper, opined a sarcastic Matthew Harkrider, a fan of Alabama rival LSU, in a thinly veiled reference to Nick Saban.
