Kristen Stewart On Crutches: Anne Hathaway Tells Her To ‘Break A Leg’ At Oscars [PHOTOS]

Kristen Stewart seems to be having a rough time of things lately and although she bravely stepped out on crutches at Sunday night’s Oscars awards, the ceremony didn’t appear to brighten her spirits any.

The 22-year-old “Twilight” actress put on a courageous face last night, smiling for cameras while hobbling around on crutches in her Reema Acra gown and Jimmy Choo platform heels, but between posing she could be seen grimacing in pain.

Her obvious discomfort drew sympathy from “Les Misérables” star Anne Hathaway, who upon seeing Stewart exclaimed, “Oh no!”

"I know, I'm an idiot," Stewart answered. "But congratulations!" she added, referring to Hathaway’s Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress..

"Please tell me you're going on stage with those [crutches]," Hathaway said, according to the AP. "Nope," Stewart answered. "I'm gonna hobble."

"Well, break a leg,” Hathaway began, before realizing her mistake. “Oops!" Stewart then reportedly explained that she had accidentally stepped on glass and cut open her foot.

"I just hope [the wound] doesn't open up right now,” she said. But while Stewart may have seemed nonchalant about the injury, members of her entourage admitted that she was nervous about attending the event.

"She had sliced her foot and everyone was worrying about would she wear heels or flats or one heel, crutches or no crutches," Stewart’s manicurist Ashlie Johnson told Us Weekly. "She tried so many options, she was really a trooper."

Her hairstylist, Danilo, added that Stewart had drawn moral support from having a team around her.

"Kristen was nervous about her crutches, so having her friends around playing music was just what she needed," Danilo said. "We all were trying to make her feel better and her friends were trying to tell her she'd be fine, she has insecurities about being in front of people so today was even tougher."

Although Stewart wasn’t the only Hollywood A-lister nursing an injury (director Tim Burton could also be seen sporting a sling under his tux, on the red carpet) she did have perhaps more cause to feel insecure. Last week, Stewart was named the “Least Sexy Hollywood Actress” in a pre-Oscar poll of British Men, and at the Razzie Awards on Sunday night she scooped up another dubious prize: worst actress of the year. Also noticeably absent from Stewart’s side was on-and-off boyfriend Robert Pattinson, with whom she is rumored to have recently split.
