Kristen Stewart, Nicholas Hoult Talk Falling In Love After Actor's Split From Jennifer Lawrence
Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult are ready to fall head over heels in love -- onscreen, that is.
Just days after splitting from his longtime girlfriend, actress Jennifer Lawrence, Hoult and co-star Stewart, both 24, attended a press conference in Toyko to discuss their budding onscreen chemistry in the upcoming action/sci-fi film, “Equals.”
“It’s always a weird position to be put in any film where the director chooses two people and is saying, ‘Hey, potentially in this world I’m creating, you two could fall in love,'” Hoult said of his fictional romance with Stewart, People magazine reports.
“Sometimes [this kind of situation] feels forced and tricky and awkward, but the kind of environment [director Drake Doremus] created was straightforward and easy. Kristen is a great actress, and that just makes it very relaxed and my job very easy."
While Hoult may still be reeling over his recent split from his “X-Men” co-star, Lawrence, 23, Stewart admitted she isn’t afraid of showing emotion on the big screen.
“I’m definitely not afraid of feels,” she said. “My life revolves around it, actually. Finding the balance between the head and the heart is important but I’ve always been driven by the gut.”
According to the film’s producer, Ann Ruark, the feature takes place in a futuristic world where humans are void of emotion until a select few regain the ability to feel again through SOS (Switch On Syndrome).
“The story has been compared to [Orson Welles] ‘1984’ but it’s not that at all,” Ruark said (via the Boston Herald). “It’s a love story. It’s not dystopian; it’s utopian.”
Ahead of the press conference, the co-stars were spotted dining together at the sushi restaurant Daiwa in Japan's Tsukiki Fish Market Thursday.
Hoult and Stewart both have engaged in onscreen-turned-offscreen romances.
Stewart dated her “Twilight” co-star, actor Robert Pattinson, for three years until they called their relationship quits last year. Multiple reports have cited Stewart’s alleged 2012 affair with her then-married “Snow White and the Huntsman” director, Rupert Sanders, as the cause for the romance's collapse.
Hoult has been linked to Lawrence, his two-time “X-Men” cast member, since the duo first met on set in 2011. After a brief split in February 2012, the duo reunited last summer while filming “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
Following rumors Lawrence had been dumped by her British film star beau over her “exploded ego” and “obsession” with Hollywood, a source told E! News Friday the two are officially no longer an item, the insider calling the split, “very amicable.”
“Equals” premieres in theaters in 2015.
