Kristen Stewart Will Star In 'Personal Shopper,' The Next Film From 'Clouds Of Sils Maria' Director Olivier Assayas
Kristen Stewart is one busy actress. The “Clouds of Sils Maria” director Olivier Assayas has signed the actress for his new upcoming indie film titled “Personal Shopper.”
Various websites are speculating that “Personal Shopper” will be based on the theme of fashion, with a twist of the spiritual world. The script has been written by Assayas and the story is set in Paris, according to AV Club. The “Twilight” actress will kick off shooting the film in Paris by the end of this year. The film will be thematically similar to the Stewart and Juliette Binoche indie "Clouds of Sils Maria," producer Charles Gilbert said, writes the website.
“Personal Shopper” is an “English-language ghost story taking place in the fashion world,” Deadline writes. It will also be co-produced by Les Films du Losange.
In “Clouds Of Sils Maria,” Stewart plays a young assistant to an aging actress played by Binoche. The 25-year-old Stewart won the best supporting actress Cesar Award for the role, a first for an American actress. The Cesar is France's equivalent of Hollywood's Oscar.
Stewart has said that she loved working with Assayas. “I love my job. I was ready to die for him [Assayas],” Stewart told French magazine Madame Figaro in March.
Assayas had praise for Stewart as well in his March 30 interview with Indie Wire. The French filmaker told the website that he is “extremely grateful and admiring of Kristen, in the sense that she can do more or less what she wants.” He added that Stewart has many options as an actress but the way she chose to do an indie film with him, speaks volumes about her as an actress.
