It seems things have escalated rather quickly in terms of Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler's divorce.

Just three days after the "Very Cavallari" couple's split was announced, new court documents revealed that the former NFL quarterback has got a stronghold on his soon-to-be ex's wallet. According to E! News, new divorce papers were filed that prevent Kristin from moving forward with the purchase of a new home.

Although the initial filing is sealed, the Uncommon James owner's response explained that Jay and his lawyer are preventing their finance manager from releasing the funds.

Kristin's response also details that, prior to their divorce filings, the 37-year-old dad had no problem with her buying a new house. She had actually started the process in November 2019 but put it on hold when they (unsuccessfully) attempted to save their marriage.

A further look into the documents claims that Jay's latest move is an attempt to gain leverage when it comes to the custody of their three children, sons Camden, 7, and Jaxon, 5, and 4-year-old daughter Saylor.

"Wife does not believe that it is in the best interest of either party or their minor children to reside in the same household... Wife fears that if the parties are required to remain in the same residence, it would be an unhealthy environment, causing irreparable harm to their minor children," Kristin's response filing reads.

"Husband makes inappropriate statements to and about Wife and attempts to draw her into an argument in front of their minor children," the filing alleges. "Now that Husband has announced he will not leave so Wife can exercise parenting time with the children, Wife fears the situation will escalate."

This new information provides some insight into Kristin's "inappropriate marital conduct" claim which she cited as a reason for their divorce. While most pondered if the phrase alluded to cheating, legal expert Rachel Stockman explained that the term could cover a wide range of things, including what was listed above.

"... we can guess infidelity could be one reason why, an unsafe environment could be another reason why, mental anguish, some kind of emotional anguish," she shared.
