Born on December 7, 1978, in Oslo, Norway, the 41-year-old actor is of Norwegian descent. Erik Hivju is his father and Lieselotte Holmene is his mother.

Before “Game of Thrones,” Hivju already had at least 15 films and documentaries and 7 television series in his portfolio. Not to mention that acting was already in his blood, being born from a family of actors, he took time in studying and perfecting his craft. Hivju, before hitting Hollywood, was a graduate of the Russian Academy of Theater Arts (GITIS) in Aarhus, Denmark, People Pill reported.

The “Game of Thrones” actor began his career in 2001 for the series “Fox Gronland,” where he reportedly played the character of Jim Olsen. From 2005 to 2008, he made appearances in several TV series short films and documentaries like "Closework," "Melonas," "Flax," "Manhunt" and “A Perfect Day for Golf."

Hivju made it to the film screen in 2008 for the movie “Rovdyr” and it was followed by “The Thing” in 2011. He reportedly joined the production of Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, for the movie “After Earth” in 2013. Thereafter, he starred in movies “In Order of Disappearance” as Strike and “Force Majeure” as Mats. The number of years he spent on the entertainment industry gained him a net worth of $3 million, Celebrity Net Worth reported.

Hivju’s hard work in the entertainment industry paid off. His skills and talent in acting were recognized in Guldbagge Awards as he won the Best Supporting Actor category for the film “Turist,” according to report of IMDb

Hivju is described as someone who is “driven” and “disciplined.” The “Game of Thrones” actor reportedly plans ahead of time and has an action plan to his goal. He possesses the recipe that will lead him to success, TVOM reported.

These attributes reflected on how he and his wife, Gry Molvaer, handled their recent battle. When Hivju tested positive for coronavirus, he immediately told his fans, through an Instagram post, that he and his family would be self-isolating for as long as it took, Daily Mail reported.
