Kyle Rittenhouse — the teenager from Antioch, Illinois, who fatally shot two men and wounded another — expressed regret Monday for making the trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin.

"If I could go back, I wish I would never have had to take somebody’s life," Rittenhouse said on an episode of “You Are Here,” a conservative podcast.

Rittenhouse had made the trip to Kenosha, where there was unrest after the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man.

"Hindsight being 20/20, probably not the best idea to go down there," Rittenhouse said.

Last week, Rittenhouse appeared on “The Charlie Kirk Show,” and was asked what Kenosha meant to him, and why he felt he wanted to be a part of protecting the city during the riots. Kenosha is 20 miles away from his home in Antioch, Illinois.

“My best friend Dominic lives there, my dad lives there, my entire family lives there, I go grocery shopping there. It’s down-to-earth people,” he said.

On Nov. 19, Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges after he fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26. Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, was injured in the shooting.

Sydney Watson, co-host of “You Are Here,” told Rittenhouse that it was “kind of impressive that of all the people that you shot at, you killed probably two of the worst on the planet.” Watson was referring to the fact that Huber and Rosenbaum had criminal backgrounds.

“Congratulations, Good job, you," she said.

Rittenhouse said it was "nothing to be congratulated about." He also said, "I don't think I did anything heroic; I just defended myself."
