Kylian Mbappe's Brother Is 'Less' Explosive But Deserving To Be With PSG
KEY POINTS
- Paris Saint-Germain has secured the future of Kylian Mbappe’s younger brother
- Ethan is already receiving rave reviews from PSG and pundits at the youth level
- It is yet to be known whether Kylian and Ethan will play together at Ligue 1
Only a few fans have witnessed Kylian Mbappe’s younger brother Ethan play, but the youngster is already touted as one of Paris Saint-Germain’s future stars.
Last month, Ethan generated quite a buzz after inking a fresh set of terms with the club’s youth system.
The 15-year-old will be staying with the Parisians until 2024, but as early as now, some at PSG are already raving about his potential.
“Three days more and he would have been in a lower age category,” an unnamed Paris Saint-Germain youth coach told Le Parisien. “That is not an easy burden to carry, but Ethan is a good boy. He has a number of qualities and he is a player who works a lot. His youth contract is deserved, it is not some buddy-buddy deal.”
“[Ethan] He has the potential to become a professional player and even play in Ligue 1,” a youth scout added. “His top quality is his vision, but he also has an excellent left foot and a very high quality of pass.”
In October, Paris Saint-Germain Under-15 played ACBB’s U-16 and Ethan were among the most notable players who delivered.
After the game, ACBB coach Charley Cassanas uttered the teenager might be “less explosive” at the moment, but his “technical” abilities are already remarkable.
"He likes to organize the game,” Cassanas said of Ethan. “He's an effective one-on-one player, with less explosiveness, but more technical finesse."
Ethan was one of the 48 select players who made it to the final trial for the INF Clairefontaine academy. He was on tap to prosper at the prestigious organization but decided he would like to pursue a career with Paris Saint-Germain.
Like most of the coaches, Clairefontaine’s former director Jean-Claude Lafargue also sees a bright future for Ethan.
“It was a family decision,” Lafargue told RMC Sport of Ethan’s departure. “This boy is a very elegant midfielder. He is very much at ease, he is very intelligent. He is a player for the future, that is true.”
With Ethan’s future seemingly being secured with Paris Saint-Germain, many are already fancying seeing him play alongside his older brother Kylian.
However, the Le Parisien report revealed that the Mbappe family has yet to comment about the matter.
As for Kylian, a contract extension with PSG is yet to be sealed even to this day, and the four-time Ligue 1 champ is still being linked to a move away from Paris.
