Kylie Jenner Responds To 'Blackface' Rumors, Zendaya And Karrueche Tran Speak Out
Kylie Jenner was accused of putting on blackface Saturday after a picture of her highlighted with “black lights and neon lights” emerged on Twitter. The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star took to both Twitter and Instagram to slam the accusation, and told people to “calm down.”
"This is a black light and neon lights people lets all calm down @marcelocantuphoto @joycebonelli @chrisdylanhair @hubblestudio,” she wrote Saturday. “goodnight @marcelocantuphoto @joycebonelli @ChrisDylanHair,” she wrote in another post that showed the controversial shoot.
To explain herself further, the 17-year-old took to Twitter. “So just got the time to head on social media lol.. The photographer used a black light and neon lights for those photos. Yes, in another world I wish I could have pink hair and blue eyes & covered in sparkles. But in this world I'm happy w the way God created me. Happy Easter everybody,” she responded Sunday.
Jenner seemed to find some support through Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran and former Disney star Zendaya Coleman. Neither entirely supported the reality star, but they didn’t slam her or the photos either.
Here’s what Tran wrote: “You're beautiful just as you are girl @KylieJenner! The point is.. Nobody needs to wish they look like anything.. We are all individually beautiful in our own way. Keep that s--- positive.”
At first, Zendaya liked the photo, but when she started seeing a backlash she retracted her statement. “At first, I saw more of an avatar look but thank y'all for keepin me on point....we all gotta stay aware of what image we project #lessons,” she wrote. “I didn't see it like that at [first]...that's crazy.”
None of the other Kardashian sisters have responded to the controversy.
In Touch Weekly’s April 13 cover issue claims Jenner is pregnant with Tyga’s child. The couple hasn’t confirmed their relationship, but apparently they’re expecting.
