La La Anthony Graces BET Awards Red Carpet With Son Kiyan, Talks Split From Carmelo Anthony

La La Anthony brought an adorable young escort as her date to the 2017 BET Awards.

On Sunday, La La graced the BET Awards red carpet and was accompanied by Kiyan, her 10-year-old son with ex Carmelo Anthony. In a red carpet interview during the event, the actress said she is so proud of her talented son and opened up about her breakup with basketball star Anthony. “He’s so good in basketball, he’s such a good student and just a good person,” La La told Entertainment Weekly about her son. “He makes me very proud.”

As for her dynamic with her estranged husband, she explained that her split with the NBA superstar did not change their family arrangement for the most part. “We’re always a family, no matter what,” La La said.

Carmelo and La La announced their split back in April. They have no plans to file for a divorce at the moment, but they are already living separately, TMZ reported.

The split was blamed on the basketball player being a womanizer. Carmelo reportedly impregnated a stripper, who demanded financial support for her medical and baby-related bills. The woman claimed that she was already six and a half months pregnant at the time.

La La and Carmelo’s marriage has reportedly been on the rocks for years now. Sources believe that this time, however, chances are slim for the couple to reconcile. When the couple broke up three years ago, they had decided to give their relationship another try after giving each other some time to cool off. But some of their friends are still hoping that this will happen again.

A source told E! News that Carmelo “wants to make it work and is trying not to lose his family.” Should La La and Carmelo decide to file for divorce, however, “all bets are off” because they signed a prenuptial agreement. The NBA player is worth $90 million and earns a lot more than his wife.

At the moment, La La said she is just focusing on her son and on herself. She is trying a new diet and is working out more. “Just focusing more on just myself. It’s summer time. All women like to turn it up in the summer, work out and eat healthy. I’ve just been following a good plan,” she said.

La La also revealed that she is excited about the new season of her show “Power” on Starz and added that she was celebrating her birthday that day. “It’s going to be an incredible season, a roller coaster ride,” she shared. “My birthday’s today! So today’s like an incredible day across the board.”
