LA Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals 2018: Prediction, Betting Odds For Week 2 Matchup

Fresh off their road win against the Oakland Raiders, the Los Angeles Rams host the NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at the Coliseum.

The Rams defense put up a strong effort against Oakland, shutting out the Raiders in the second half and forcing three interceptions in a 33-13 win. In the fourth quarter, new cornerback Marcus Peters returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown.

But the Rams' linebackers often struggled to contain the Raiders' running game, allowing 95 yards and a touchdown off 23 carries. Linebacker Mark Barron, who did not play against Oakland, is considered doubtful on Sunday.

Los Angeles may also need a stronger performance covering tight ends, as Jared Cook caught nine passes for 180 yards.

Sean McVay's offense looked sharp, executing several creative plays while the offensive line often gave quarterback Jared Goff ample time to complete passes to his talented receiving unit. Newcomer Brandin Cooks caught five passes for 87 yards, while Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods combined for 89 yards and a touchdown off eight receptions.

Arizona will be looking to bounce back from a poor season opener. The Cardinals rush defense allowed 182 yards off 42 carries in a 24-6 home loss to the Washington Redskins, with veteran Adrian Peterson leading the way with 96 yards and a touchdown off 26 carries.

Things don't get any easier for the Cardinals defense, as they gear up to face superstar Rams running back Todd Gurley, who rushed for 108 yards in the opener. The MVP candidate also caught three passes for 39 yards.

Arizona will be without defensive tackle Olsen Pierre, who has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with a toe injury.

Quarterback Sam Bradford did little to change minds that he will remain the starting quarterback. The veteran threw for just 153 yards and was intercepted. Los Angeles native Josh Rosen remains the backup, though that is expected to change at some point in the season.

Betting Odds: Rams by 13 points; over/under is 44.5 points

Prediction: This one shouldn't be close. The Rams, who have high hopes to go deep in the playoffs, are at home and are stronger on offense, defense and specials teams. The Cardinals have more talent than many give them credit, but it's hard to see them overcome some of their weaknesses (quarterback, wide receiver depth, pass defense) against a hungry and loaded team like Los Angeles.
