Ladders To Get Over Trump's Wall: GoFundMe Page Rivals Border Wall Project
In response to Brian Kolfage’s border wall funding project on GoFundMe, a new page has popped on the site to raise money for ladders to get over the border wall.
The GoFundMe Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall project wants to make sure that “migrant siblings and fellow human beings” are provided ladders to make their way over the border wall that Kolfage is trying to fund.
“…we wanna make sure ladders are ready to send over to our undocumented friends and help them,” the page reads.
The ladder project also makes a point of saying that it would take 35 years to raise the $21.7 billion that Trump needs to build the wall. Even at the $1.7 million daily rate that the GoFundMe border wall project is currently raising money at.
The ladder project has raised over $93,000 to date but says if it can’t reach the $100 million it will give the money to charity.
“Should we not reach our goal--or should they (ahem) not reach theirs--all funds raised will go to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees.”
The goal of the site is more than just providing ladders, but it is dedicated to helping immigrants get legal asylum. The page says, “This GoFundMe isn’t really about ladders at all. It’s about lifting people up.”
The person behind the GoFundMe page is listed as @HoarseWisperer on Twitter. Several $500 donations have been made to the site that includes over 4,000 donors in one day.
