Lady Gaga Calls Bradley Cooper 'Best Director' After Oscar Snub
After Bradley Cooper’s name was left out of the list of nominees for this year’s Oscars, Lady Gaga came out in support of her colleague and friend. In a recent interview, the singer and actress said that she considers Cooper to be the best director even though he didn’t get the nomination.
Cooper’s name didn’t make it to the Oscars 2019 nominees list, but his film, “A Star is Born,” is getting a lot of attention. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Gaga said that Cooper knows that he is the best director in her eyes and also to the rest of the cast of the film.
Gaga plays the lead in “A Star Is Born,” and she said that Cooper is happy that the cast members of his film are getting all this recognition. He is apparently also glad about his debut film getting praise and positive reviews. The cast members are “beyond elated” for the recognition, according to the singer.
As for the future, Gaga expressed hope when she said that one doesn’t know what will happen. On the bright side of things, she has been selected as one of the first presenters for Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards along with Cooper and Rami Malek, The Washington Post reported.
The first list of presenters at Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards include Henry Golding, Angela Bassett, Ben Hardy, Joe Mazzello, Ken Jeong and Gwilym Lee. The other presenters who have been announced so far are Adam Driver, Chadwick Boseman, Sam Elliott, Constance Wu, John David Washington and Michelle Yeoh.
Cooper, on the other hand, is also grateful for the recognition his film has been getting, E! News reported. The actor-turned-director said in a statement that everyone who worked on “A Star Is Born” took a risk to make a film that connects with the audience in a deep and personal way. He said that the fact that people who have watched the film are talking about how it connected with them at a deeper level and the fact that the Academy has recognized the film is enough for him to feel grateful.
