Lady Gaga Visits Rio's Slums, Spends Time With Local Children
Singer Lady Gaga continued her stay in Brazil by visiting some of the poorest areas in the country Thursday and spending time with local children.
Gaga, who is in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil as part of her Born This Way Ball world tour, took a break from performing in order to down to the favelas, what poor areas of the country are called; the Cantagalo slum in particular.
The 26-year-old wore a low-key white dress with pastel designs and black high heels, which soon came off as she joined the area kids in a game of soccer.
Later she took to Twitter, detailing the events of her visit.
“We even played football. They were so good it was crazy!” Her tweet accompanied a photo of herself kicking a soccer ball in the center of a group of children.
The star visited the area in order to learn about the programs there that benefit local child, according to the Daily Mail.
In addition, she signed autographs and took photos with the kids that clung to her with excitement. She even gave one young boy a kiss on his cheek. She also performed some of her songs in the middle of an intimate group of grinning children.
“Today was the best day I've ever had, had so much fun,” she tweeted. “I'll never forget Rio, you lit my heart into flames.”
Earlier in her stay, Gaga interacted with fans from her hotel balcony. Wearing a Brazil soccer shirt, the singer sent pizza down to the adoring crowds.
