Lady Gaga Wins Lawsuit Against Animated Lady Goo Goo
Born This Way singer Lady Gaga has successfully banned the animated character, Lady Goo Goo, who strongly resembles her in looks and action.
The animated character is from the Moshi Monsters online game owned by the U.K.-based firm Mind Candy. The Web site is quite popular among kids, since it contains parodies of different celebrities, like Justin Bieber and Britney Spears.
According to reports, the lawsuit was filed only to avoid consumer confusion. The Telegraph of London added the problem was not the fact that the animated character closely resembled the star. Rather, it was the fact that Lady Gaga was going to release a single soon, and she wanted to avoid confusion among the public. As per the court orders, Moshi Monsters have been prevented from promoting or marketing any songs or videos by Lady Goo Goo.
It's pretty obvious that kids will be able to tell the difference between the two characters. The shame is that millions of kids fell in love with Lady Goo Goo's debut single on YouTube, and now won't be able to enjoy her musical exploits. It was all done in the name of fun, and we would have thought that Lady Gaga could have seen the humor behind this parody, said Michael Acton Smith, founder and CEO of Mind Candy, as quoted by The Guardian of London.
However, Lady Gaga had submitted documents and evidence suggesting there had been some confusion among consumers.
