Lakers News: Lebron James’ Space Jam 2 Uniform Unveil Gets Fans Talking

Space Jam was released over 24 years ago and is still considered as a favorite among basketball fans of a wide range of ages. The film features Michael Jordan’s whimsical adventure with the Looney Tunes in a jam-packed family-friendly classic. The filming of its much-anticipated sequel began early in 2019 with none other than LA Lakers star Lebron James as the leading man.

The King takes on a huge responsibility to live up to another of Michael Jordan’s accomplishments – to star in a timeless motion picture that would be remembered for generations to come.

With that, Nike and Lebron James’ brand recently unveiled the official uniform of Space Jam 2. The newly released jerseys pay homage to their 90’s counterpart added with a little twist.

The famed Monstars plain dark jerseys now include their own logo, a galaxy motif, while the orange outline remains intact. The Tune Squad’s jersey offers a similar look, but with Nike’s branding more prevalent – with the famed swoosh and Lebron James’ logo visible to everyone.

Two photographs of the material were released by the official J23 iPhone App – the official page of Jordan merchandise and release dates.

This has caused much speculation if Michael Jordan will make an appearance to the film. The presence of His Airness will cater to the older demographic, as those reminiscing the first film will play a factor in the movie.

While it’s not confirmed if Michael Jordan will be in the main cast, NBA stars will join Lebron James in the movie. Golden State Warriors’ splash brother Klay Thompson, Portland Trailblazer’s point guard Damian Lillard, and LA Lakers big man Anthony Davis will be in the mix.

Youtube vlogger Austin Burke posted about the new threads that ensued nostalgia in his comments section. Although some are skeptical about it, most input revolves around the simpler days of the ’90s.

In addition, the Internet also did their part as jokes poured out about the design of the uniforms and gut feel about the movie. Some even calling out Lebron James at risk of joining the Monstars with a possible Monstars themed shoe for the All-Star weekend.

Space Jam 2 is slated to debut in theaters next year, 2021.
