Two adults and a dog were killed in a rollover crash in Lakewood, Colorado Tuesday night, the Lakewood Police Department said.

The crash occurred at around 8:40 p.m. EST at South Wadsworth Boulevard and West Jewell Avenue and involved three vehicles- an SUV, a pickup truck, and a sedan, a Lakewood Police Department spokesperson said.

The deceased man and woman were in the sedan that overturned.

On arrival, officers found the passengers trapped inside the vehicle. The woman passenger was declared dead on the scene and the man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police didn’t identify those died in the crash. A dog in the pickup truck died on the scene too.

The pickup truck driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The reason behind the crash remains under investigation but police revealed that it was not due to the use of alcohol or drugs.

Both the roads were closed for the ongoing investigation until 10:15 p.m. EST.

The Colorado State Patrol has issued a public appeal in November asking drivers to wear their seatbelts and slow down following six fatal crashes were reported in a matter of a day.

Just a few days after issuing the appeal, a fatal crash in Colorado Springs was again reported. The three-vehicle crash claimed at least three lives. All of those died were traveling in a Honda CR-V that ran a stop sign and rammed into a Ford F-150 and thereafter a Jeep Cherokee.
