Lala Kent On Rushing To Hospital After Daughter Was 'Gasping For Air': 'It's Scary'

Lala Kent had to rush to a Los Angeles hospital last week because her 19-month-old daughter, Ocean Kent Emmett, was "gasping for air."

The 32-year-old actress, who welcomed Ocean with film producer Randall Emmett before their breakup last year, disclosed she noticed her daughter being "upset" in her bedroom. She immediately thought there was "something wrong."

When Kent entered the bedroom, she saw her daughter was "gasping for air" and that "she cannot breathe," she recalled on the "Give Them Lala" podcast.

The actress watched her daughter for five minutes before rushing to the hospital. "I was keeping an eye on her for what seemed like an hour which was really five minutes before I decided we're going to the emergency room — like something's off," she explained. "I was steaming the shower, [and] while it was steaming, I put her on my chest, laid in the bed and just the way she was sounding, you could tell she was having trouble breathing. Now I'm not f--king around."

The "Out of Death" star recalled her daughter cried and coughed when they reached the hospital. A nurse asked her how long the little one had been doing this but she didn't have an answer.

"I said, 'I don't know because I just got her back. I share custody right now. I got her at 7, I put her down. This is what I have now,'" she added.

Kent shared that Ocean was "a little lethargic" and had a runny nose at that time but she didn't think it was a serious problem because she was told the baby was doing great when she was at her ex's house.

"She ended up having croup, which when they're infants is very scary," Kent said about her daughter's health. "Luckily, Ocean's lungs are developed so it is something that if you catch it quickly is very treatable."

The actress shared a video of Ocean being playful in front of the camera Wednesday. "We were sick all weekend, but got this content... & I can't even," she wrote on Instagram.

Kent and Emmett announced they were expecting their first baby in September 2020. They welcomed the baby the next March and in October, they called off their engagement after being together for three years.
