When Lamar Odom previously shared a post on social media praising his new girlfriend Sabrina Parr, some of his followers thought that he was throwing shade at his ex Khloe Kardashian. The former NBA star has clarified in a new post that he respects his ex and that the assumptions about his previous posts are wrong.

Odom recently shared a picture of a skimpily dressed Parr exercising on Instagram and quoted Malcom X in the post. The post was supposed to be complimenting his girlfriend, but some fans who commented on the post suggested that the athlete was throwing shade on Kardashian.

Responding to the fan comments, Odom shared another picture of Parr on Instagram and wrote that he is “disappointed” to read some people using his words to “enforce their own perceptions and assumptions.” The athlete confirmed that such perceptions are neither his “truth” nor his “reality.”

Commenting specifically about Kardashian, Odom said that his post wasn’t against anyone, including his ex wife. He explained that he is “pro love,” and added that he respects his ex deeply.

Odom wrote that black women “have been held down for centuries.” His intention, according to the post, was to only send love towards black women, and especially towards his girlfriend Parr.

Describing Parr as “the new leading woman” in his life, Odom said that she is beautiful from the inside out. The former NBA star said that he is going to tell everyone about her beauty.

Odom and Kardashian got divorced back in 2016. In an interview with CNN in May, the athlete confessed that he still “deeply in love” with his ex. He, however, admitted that he has to “live in a rational space” when it comes to expectations about the relationship with his ex. He said that being friends with her would be a “blessing in itself.”
