Lamar Odom’s Ex Liza Morales Pens Touching Response To Former Athlete Checking Into Rehab
Lamar Odom may be going through a challenging time right now, but he has the support of his family. The former basketball player’s ex, Liza Morales, took to Instagram Friday to post a very sweet message about Odom seeking treatment and checking himself into a San Diego rehab facility.
Morales said she and her two children, Destiny and Lamar Jr., were “proud” of Odom for “taking the necessary steps in his life’s journey.” She continued: “This is a private situation that has become public for observation, speculation and judgment. This may be media fodder for some, but Lamar is a father, kin and a friend. Anyone that has dealt (or is still dealing) with the same situation with a loved one or friend knows it’s one day at a time. In the meantime, Destiny, Lamar Jr. and I send light and positivity to their dad and hope you can do the same.”
Earlier this week, Odom checked himself into an undisclosed treatment center. His rep confirmed the news Thursday telling Us Weekly that the former athlete, his family and friends all thought it was the right step for him to take. “After consulting with his family and friends, and meeting with Dr. Travis Stork of ‘The Doctors,’ he has decided it is best he take time to focus on himself. He is dedicated to leading a healthy lifestyle and being the best father he can be to his children,” the statement read. “Lamar asks that the public please respect his privacy at this time and truly appreciates the love and support of his family, friends and fans.”
Odom seeking help comes more than a year after he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel. The 37-year-old was hospitalized as a result of the near-fatal incident. In a sneak peek of his interview on “The Doctors,” Odom opened up about the incident saying that he was in a “dark place” at the time. “I guess they say everything happens for a reason. I guess the reason is I’m here. I can tell the story,” he said. Odom’s full interview will air in January.
