Lana Condor and Noah Centineo are returning one last time to conclude the "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" trilogy, and they shared their secret to maintaining a professional working relationship on set.
Condor and Centineo have been working together for years as Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky, respectively, in the trilogy. They portrayed the two characters' love story but made a pact in real life that they would never date. Both agreed that it would be best for them to strictly maintain their friendship all throughout the project.
"We love each other in a very friendship way and there's real love there, but I think in an alternate universe -- I can't even imagine -- if we would've dated, it would've ruined the movies," Condor, who has been in a long-term relationship with Anthony De La Torre, told Entertainment Tonight.
"You watch movies like Twilight where the leads [Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson] were dating and broke up in the middle of the films and I could not even imagine working in a romantic setting with an ex. That sounds like an actual nightmare."
Centineo agreed with Condor and said it would be impossible to maintain friendship if "lust gets in the way." They have been working together for four years and he is glad they share a solid bond because "who knows, things can get ugly at some points." Also, he believed that in the end, it's just a job for them.
"At the end of the day, it is a job," Centineo added. "This is a profession and it's important to have a high level of professionalism when going to work. I think beyond that it was very natural for Lana and I to settle into a place of friendship. We've had each other's back from the very first day that we met... And the way that our lives timed out, we were going through similar things in relationships in our lives so from Day 1, that's how it's been."
Condor was grateful for everyone she worked with. She also said she enjoyed working with Centineo as her scene partner and it "really sucked" to say goodbye to him.
"To All the Boys: Always and Forever" premieres on Feb. 12 on Netflix.
