Lana Del Rey’s ‘Lust For Life’: Everything We Know About The New Album
Lana Del Rey’s 2015 album, “Honeymoon,” may not have been the commercial success that 2014’s “Ultraviolence” was, but many critics have called the project Del Rey’s best work. Taking some time off between the release of her last record, the singer will return in May with fifth studio album, “Lust For Life.” Before the album releases, here are a few things you need to know about it:
“Lust For Life” Is Expected To Release On May 26
Fans of Lana Del Rey won’t have to wait much longer for new music as the singer’s fourth major-label studio album is expected to drop at the end of May. Lana announced the album near the end of March with a trailer that revealed the direction of the project.
The Weeknd Has Something To Do With The Album
Having already collaborated on The Weeknd’s “Starboy” album for the song “Stargirl Interlude,” the “Lust For Life” trailer makes a clear reference to The Weeknd’s XO record label, teasing that the Canadian singer will play some role on the record. Del Rey also tweeted “XO” in March with the heart emoji in between the letters.
The Album Is More “Socially Aware”
During a rare public interview with BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley, Del Rey said the album started off with a “‘50s-’60s feeling” but as the climate “kept on getting more heated politically,” the singer realized her lyrics were reflecting that. “I guess it’s a little more socially aware. It’s kind of a global feeling,” she said.
The First Single Is “Love”
Del Rey released the album’s first single, “Love,” in February and said the song featured a “really big, clean sound.” The singer added, “‘[Love’] is a good representation of where [the album’s] headed, where the sound is headed.”
She Worked With Benny Blanco And Rick Nowels
While “Lust For Life” only has one single so far, we know that Lana worked with Benny Blanco, Emile Haynie and Rick Nowels on “Love.” Expect Nowels to have more credits on the album when the project releases as he previously worked with Del Rey on “Honeymoon.”
