Lance Armstrong: “Unpardonable zeal to smear” George Hincapie
Lance Armstrong has released a new statement from his representative, Mark Fabiani, on Sunday, condemning CBS of attacking former teammate and friend, George Hincapie.
In its unpardonable zeal to smear Lance Armstrong, CBS has also attacked the reputation of George Hincapie, the statement by Fabiani said.
We are confident that the statements attributed to Hincapie are inaccurate and that the reports of his testimony are unreliable, Fabiani continues. George Hincapie and his counsel have publicly said that they did not reveal any aspects of his testimony.
On Friday, CBS released an article alleging that Hincapie told federal authorities that Armstrong took performance enhancing drugs.
In response to the article, Hincapie said, I have no idea where they got their information.
He added, I can confirm to you I never spoke with '60 Minutes'.
The CBS article was released on the heels of another former teammate, Tyler Hamilton, saying that Armstrong took EPO, a blood-boosting steroid.
Hamilton will appear on a special segment of CBS's 60 Minutes on Sunday and speak about his own steroid usage as well as his accusations against Armstrong.
