Lando Norris Net Worth: McLaren Driver Earns $2M Despite Father’s $250M Fortune
KEY POINTS
- Lando Norris' earnings this season is estimated at $2 million
- He sits 4th in the 2020 Formula 1 standings
- Norris' father, Adam Norris, has a net worth of $250 million
Lando Norris is the star driver for McLaren-Renault this season. He is slowly but surely making a name for himself in Formula 1 despite being relatively new.
Norris sits fourth in the 2020 F1 standings with 26 points, and he has made the podium once in the Austria Grand Prix. His fine display this year fueled the resurgence of McLaren. Partnered with an equally exciting driver Carlos Sainz Jr., McLaren is poised to surprise the rest of the competition this time around.
Norris was ranked 21st by ESPN in 2018. He had a productive year in 2019 after amassing 49 points coming off 11 top 10 finishes. So far this 2020, the former karting world champion already has two top 5 and two top 10 finishes.
The 20-year-old earned his stripes winning the F3 title in 2017 and capturing Formula 2 runner up two years later. According to GrandPrix.com, despite displaying potential at a young age, critics claim Norris has benefitted from having a successful and multimillionaire father, Adam Norris, who has an estimated net worth of $250 million.
Adam made his fortune as a former director of Pensions Direct. He busies himself investing in startups with Horatio Investments. The older Norris also has a stake in a financial service company called Hargreaves Lansdown.
The young driver brushed off the allegations. Despite his family’s fortune, Lando’s net worth is only around $1 million. When compared to Formula 1’s arguably richest driver in history, Lewis Hamilton’s $285 million net worth, Norris’ fortune seems like small change. But if the Bristol, United Kingdom native stays healthy and focused, prize winnings and lucrative endorsement deals could come sooner than later.
Right now, the newcomer already represents various brands that include McLaren, Bell Helmets, wearegrip, ADD Management and PAP. Unknown to many, Norris lent a helping hand to those affected by COVID-19. He has raised $10,000 and $12,000 and collaborated with rivals to launch “Race For the World,” a live stream charity event which fetched at least $70,000 in donations, per EssentiallySports.
The Formula 1 season started officially in July 2020 amid threats of suspending the season altogether due to the coronavirus. A total of eight races have been cancelled due to the pandemic. Hamilton leads the standings after three races followed by Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen. The next GP will take place in Great Britain on Aug. 7 to 9, followed by Spain and Belgium GPs in the same month.
