Lara Trump Tells Americans Along Border To 'Arm Up And Get Guns' As Migrants Surge

Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump and daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, has asked Americans living near the southern border to “arm up” and be ready to shoot amid the recent migrant surge.

Her comments came as she appeared on Fox News with Judge Jeanine Pirro and discussed President Joe Biden’s plans to appoint Vice President Kamala Harris to oversee immigration and negotiations with Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

"I don't know what you tell the people who live at the southern border," Lara Trump said, adding: "I guess they better arm up and get guns and be ready, and maybe they're going to have to start taking matters into their hands."

Social media were quick to slam Lara Trump for her remarks, saying that her words could promote vigilante violence and hate crimes against immigrants.

“This is dangerous. The former president's daughter-in-law is calling for people to shoot immigrants. It's worse after multiple mass shootings over the last few days in Texas & elsewhere. This could lead to an uptick in hate crimes across the country,” Russel Foster, a Democratic candidate for the 2022 Congress in Texas, said.

During the Fox News interview, Lara Trump warned migrants against attempting to cross the border, calling it a “dangerous journey.”

“These people should never make this dangerous journey here. It’s bad for Americans, it’s bad for the migrants, it is bad all around,” she said.

Lara Trump also criticized Harris for “giggling” when she was asked whether she plans to visit the southern border. “She thinks she can just laugh off the crisis at the border and it’s embarrassing,” the former president's daughter-in-law said.

Harris previously faced criticism after she told would-be migrants not to come to the U.S., warning them that they would be turned back at the border.

“The goal of our work is to help Guatemalans find hope at home,” Harris had said in a joint press conference with Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei. “At the same time, I want to be clear to folks in the region who are thinking about making that dangerous trek to the United States-Mexico border: Do not come. Do not come. I believe if you come to our border, you will be turned back,” she added.

However, Harris later appeared in an interview where she stated she was an “advocate” for illegal immigrants, in contrast to her previous remarks on immigration.
