  • Shawn King believed someone influenced her husband Larry King to amend his will
  • Larry dropped Shawn from his handwritten will that he penned two months after filing for divorce
  • Shawn believed the will they wrote together as a couple in 2015 was legitimate

Larry King's estranged wife Shawn King wants to contest his amended will.

Shawn reacted after learning about Larry's handwritten will dated Oct. 17, 2019, where he specifically mentioned to equally divide his entire fortune amounting to about $2 million to his five children — Larry Jr., Chance, Cannon, Andy and Chaia. Both Andy and Chaia passed away in 2020. Shawn believed that someone pressured Larry to amend the will without her knowledge.

"We had a very watertight family estate plan," she was quoted by Page Six as saying. She stressed that they wrote his will together "as a couple" in 2015.

"It still exists, and it is the legitimate will. Period. And I fully believe it will hold up, and my attorneys are going to be filing a response, probably by the end of the day," she continued.

Larry filed for divorce from Shawn, his seventh wife, in August 2019, two months before his amended handwritten will. However, he passed away before their split was settled in court.

Prior to his death, the esteemed journalist admitted to Page Six that he had become close friends with his ex again. Shawn also said they had been talking to each other daily. However, Larry never mentioned to her the amended will.

When asked if she believed someone influenced Larry to write the will, Shawn gave a positive response saying, "Yes." She couldn't believe that Larry would write it because he was already sore after filing the divorce papers.

"Based on the timeline, it just doesn’t make sense," Shawn added.

When asked why she is going with the legal battle after being dropped from the will that would only give her around $300,000, Shawn gave a brief response. "It's the principle," she said.

Larry had been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 weeks before he passed away. However, he didn't die of COVID-19 but of sepsis based on his death certificate. Shawn also confirmed the cause of his death.

"It was an infection, it was sepsis," she told Entertainment Tonight. "Well, he was finally ready to go, I will tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go but his sweet little body was just, it had just been hit so many times with so many things and once we heard the word COVID, all of our hearts just sunk. But he beat it, you know, he beat it, but it did take its toll and then the unrelated infection finally is what took him, but boy, he was not gonna go down easily."
