Larsa Pippen Insists She Had Nothing To Do With Malik Beasley, Montana Yao’s Split
KEY POINTS
- Larsa Pippen insisted that Malik Beasley and Montana Yao had issues before she met him
- The reality star said she did check information about Beasley online before they met
- Pippen was convinced that Beasley was in the process of exiting a marriage before they got together
Larsa Pippen broke her silence about dating still-married Malik Beasley and insisted his marriage was already on the rocks before they even met.
Pippen, 46, spoke with "Hollywood Unlocked" about dating Beasley, 44, on Saturday. Scottie Pippen's ex insisted that she was not the reason why Beasley and his wife, Montana Yao, separated. She noted that it was already known online that the two were having issues with their marriage.
"It had nothing to do with me, so I wasn’t thinking anything about it," she was quoted by Page Six as saying. "If you spent a minute Googling their situation, it wasn’t the ideal situation way before me."
Pippen also said she would do a "better job" of keeping her personal life private going forward following the controversy involving her and Beasley.
"What’s the point of taking a beating over a guy I had just started talking to?" she asked.
Pippen believes that she did her part in checking information about Beasley before they met. She was convinced that he was among those people who were exiting a marriage.
"We had spoken about it. It wasn’t a secret. I know a lot of people that are married and exiting," she continued. "I’ve played that part. So for me, if you’re not being shady and you’re telling me all your stuff, I’m going to believe you."
"A lot of people are not happy in their situations and they don’t want to jump ship until they see someone they like. You don’t want to just shake your kids up because you might never meet someone that you actually like. You’re in a state of living in the same place, but not really together," she added.
It wasn't the first time Pippen denied her involvement in Yao and Beasley's split. In December, she insisted that the two were separated before she met him in a tweet that Yao addressed.
"This is 100% false. Continue to speak on my name and my relationship and we’re going to have issues. Receipts don’t lie. Let’s not go there. I think you’ve embarrassed yourself enough already," the model responded on Twitter.
Yao filed for divorce from Beasley on the day she saw his photos holding hands with Pippen. Beasley and Yao share one child together — a son named Makai.
