Las Vegas Shooter Booked Lollapalooza Hotel Rooms Where Malia Obama Attended: Report
Chicago police said that they are aware and investigating a TMZ report saying that Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas mass shooter, booked a hotel room facing the Lollapalooza concert this past summer.
Lollapalooza is a yearly concert festival that takes place in Chicago. This year the festival took place from Aug. 3 to Aug. 6 in Grant Park. TMZ is reporting that Paddock booked two hotel rooms at the Blackstone Hotel across the street and specifically requested that the rooms face the park. The concert drew such attendees as former President Barack Obama’s daughters Malia and Sasha and Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emmanuel.
“We are aware of the media reports and have been in communication with our federal partners,” chief police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Chicago Tribune.
Lollapalooza’s lineup included Lorde, Muse, the Killers, Arcade Fire, Blink-182 and Chance the Rapper. On Wednesday police said that Paddock had previously rented rooms with sights on the “Life is Beautiful Festival,” in Las Vegas. That concert was also headlined by Chance the Rapper.
This week Paddock killed at least 58 people and left over 500 injured when he opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a country music concert, from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.
TMZ reports that Paddock booked two rooms one from Aug. 1 to Aug. 6 and another from Aug. 3 to Aug. 6.
The Blackstone Hotel did not immediately respond to request for comment.
