A new behind-the-scenes picture of “The Last Kingdom” Season 4 has been released online. The photo gives the fans a first look at King Edward (Timothy Innes).

Edward became king towards the end of the previous season, and Innes has now shared the first look picture of his character’s return in Season 4. The black and white photograph shows the young king in the middle of a battlefield with his sword unsheathed.

The new king is surrounded by his warriors, but Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) is not among them. Will Edward make the same initial mistakes his father did by going into battles against the wise counsel of his greatest warrior?

“Summer, the heat is on,” Innes wrote in his post. Commenting on the same picture that has been reposted on the Instagram page of the TV series, many of the fans said that they can’t wait for the next season.

While Edward will be in the heat of battle, Uhtred will be travelling back to his ancestral lands in “The Last Kingdom” Season 4. A previously shared behind-the-scenes shot from the production set of the TV series teased the plot to be about going back to the beginning, and back to Bebbanburg.

The behind-the-scenes photo teased the beautiful landscape that will be standing in for the lands of Bebbanburg. The post also revealed that the plot of the show will be about Uhtred wanting to reclaim and rule over his ancestral lands in the next season.

To help Uhtred achieve his goals are his loyal band of followers. A previously shared set of pictures from the production set teased all of the warrior’s followers will be back with him, including Beocca (Ian Hart).

“The Last Kingdom” Season 4 is expected to premiere some time later this year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.
