'The Last Kingdom' Season 4: The Rise Of A Warrior King
There will be a new king in “The Last Kingdom” Season 4. After the events of the previous season, Wessex will have a strong leader who the people can follow. A behind-the-scenes picture has been released online that confirms that Edward (Timothy Innes) will be a warrior.
The behind-the-scenes picture that has been posted on Instagram shows a battle-scarred king kneeling on the field with his sword clenched in his hand. The post confirms that the picture is a post battle snap.
The new king leading his troops personally in battle is in sharp contrast to the previous king, who heavily relied on his warriors, especially Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), to win his battles against the invading Danes.
Uhtred will continue to be bound to the king, although reluctantly, in the next season. It remains to be seen if a warrior king will be good for the Lord of Bebbanburg.
While the king will focus on establishing order in his kingdom in “The Last Kingdom” Season 4, Uhtred will be busy, at least in some of the episodes, elsewhere. Dreymon shared a behind-the-scenes picture of him and his fellow cast members, including Aethelflaed actress Millie Brady.
“Poster for the first official tour of The Aethelflaeds,” Dreymon wrote in the post. Will Aethelflaed take a more active interest in the subjects of her country and take on the reins of the administration herself?
While King Edward will want to complete his father’s dream and unite the kingdom to form England, there will be new Viking threats to face. One of these threats will be from Cnut (Magnus Bruun), and a behind-the-scenes photo confirmed the character’s return. Brunn has already completed his share of the filming for his character.
“The Last Kingdom” Season 4 is set to premiere sometime this year. The producers are yet to announce an exact release date.
