Game developer Naughty Dog revealed some more details about “The Last of Us 2,” including the wide, open world that players can explore. The developers have hinted at the size of the game’s scope, saying that a single playthrough is not enough for the players to explore everything.

IGN reported that some gameplay and story elements are unavailable, unless the player goes back to try and play again. The team said that some sequences are missable by players. Entire story moments and other fully-scripted interactions may not be encountered by players—and that may show just how large the game actually is.

Director Neil Druckmann also spoke about how large the game is, and how it can be perfect in a world where social distancing is encouraged. He said that there are a lot of side-story elements that players can explore, while they may also choose to stick with the story walkthroughs. A big part of the development was to make players feel that the game wasn’t “padded."

Sony is also pulling out all the stops for “The Last of Us 2.” That includes creating a limited edition version of a PS4 Pro to bundle with the game. According to Gamespot, the game will be bundled with a console and controller bearing a design taken from the game—most notably, the tattoo of Ellie, one of the game’s protagonists.

The game will also feature a collection where a limited-edition Gold Wireless Headset and a Seagate 2TB Game Drive will go on sale at the same time. These also bear similar designs as the PS4 Pro and controller. The designs have been revealed in Sony’s latest press release about the game, thanks to Naughty Dog art director John Sweeney.

The other details revealed about “The Last of Us 2” include the release date, which Sony put in June. It was earlier cancelled no thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Shortly after it was made available for hands-on reviews, the game was said to have gone gold.
