KEY POINTS
- Nintendo is reportedly working on an upgraded version of Switch
- The company has not yet confirmed that the Switch Pro is in development
- Rumors have it that the Switch Pro might launch before E3 2021
Rumors about Nintendo working on an upgraded version of its hybrid console, fondly called Nintendo switch pro, have been rife online since last year. However, the latest rumors could be bad news for fans, especially for those who are looking forward to seeing the new Nintendo Switch Pro before the E3 2021 event.
A report from Bloomberg earlier suggested that the rumored gaming console would be announced before the gaming event and would debut sometime this fall. The latest speculations suggested that the Japanese gaming giant might not announce the rumored Switch Pro before E3 2021, which will be held from June 12-15. GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb believes it is an "informed speculation," Comicbook reported.
Although Grubb suggested that the announcement might not happen before this year's E3, he did not say when the official reveal would happen. Nintendo announced a few days ago its software-only Direct show. However, it did not make any indication that it would announce anything else before the show.
A recent report from Forbes speculated that the Japanese gaming giant most likely will not announce the Switch Pro. The report said the highly anticipated upgraded version of the Switch might not even release this year. It claimed that Nintendo does not really need to launch the rumored Switch Pro this year.
According to Forbes, the ongoing global component shortage affecting all consoles could lead to a lesser than normal supply for a 2021 debut. Another reason is the fact that the hybrid console, which launched in 2017, is still a huge best-seller and will most likely sell out this coming holiday regardless if there is a Pro version or not, the report noted.
The Nintendo Switch Pro is rumored to be in development. Nintendo has not yet confirmed that it is working on a new version of Switch.
