Laurene Powell Jobs has an estimated net worth of $21.8 billion. This is how she spends her massive fortune.

Powell inherited her wealth from her late husband Apple founder Steve Jobs, who passed away in 2011 due to respiratory arrest. Since then, Powell has been busy investing and giving back to various communities, a shared vision with her late husband. According to her, Jobs was not interested in wealth accumulation. This made Powell decide to give away her entire assets while she is still alive or shortly after her death. She assigned Emerson Collective, an organization she founded in 2004, to take care of it, per Vox.

The majority of the fortune she inherited comes in the form of Apple and Disney stocks that are allegedly worth billions of dollars.

The 56-year-old businesswoman invested in several sports teams in 2017. She bought a majority stake in Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the NBA’s Washington Wizards and the NHL's Washington Capitals, a report from Chicago Tribune revealed.

According to Forbes, aside from her involvement in sports, she also ventured into media outlets, including The Atlantic, California Sunday and Popup Magazine.

A known philanthropist, Powell’s decision to give her wealth to charities is similar to the aim of The Giving Pledge, a Bill and Melinda Gates initiative that encourages the world’s wealthiest to donate their fortunes to charities and NGOs. Job’s wife did not join The Giving Pledge, but her motive is also altruistic in nature.

The 56-year-old married Jobs in 1991. The two have three children together: Eve, Reed and Erin. Lisa Brennan-Jobs, on the other hand, is the daughter of the former Apple CEO with Chrisann Brennan before he met Powell.

The former Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs employee’s life has revolved around helping the less privileged even before she met Jobs. She started College Track in 1997 that helps struggling students prepare for college. Moreover, the widow is one of the founding members of the Climate Leadership Council, Business Insider reported.

The West Milford, New Jersey native is being eyed as one of the major contributors in the upcoming U.S. elections. She once donated $2 million to Hillary Clinton and helped raise around $4 million for her campaign. The philanthropist openly supported Kamala Harris’ campaign for presidency until the latter gave up in December 2019.
