Laverne Cox Models For Beyoncé’s Fashion Line: ‘It’s Like I’m Dreaming’
Laverne Cox has finally let the cat out of bag! The “Orange is the New Black” actress collaborated with her idol, Beyoncé , for the singer’s fashion line, Ivy Park.
Last month, Cox hinted on her project with the “Halo” singer, but only said that more details will be released in the coming days. Now, the award-winning actress’ photos for Ivy Park have been released online via Entertainment Weekly.
While speaking with People Style, Cox gushed that she feels like she’s dreaming. “To be honest, it doesn’t feel real. It feels like some weird fantasy that I’ve had since Destiny’s Child. It feels amazing that I get to be a part of this brand that has already inspired me and be working with a woman who has especially been a huge inspiration to me and so many folks around the world,” she said.
Cox flew to Los Angeles for a one-day shoot for Ivy Park’s fall campaign. At the time, she was also involved in the promotion of Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black” Season 5.
When asked what the fall line is all about, Cox said that it’s “about tapping into your inner hero,” and this is just one of the many other things she’s learned from the singer. “Beyoncé is someone who has pushed herself beyond what she even thought she could do. It’s a sense of becoming a superwoman, and really pushing yourself beyond all measure,” she explained.
Beyoncé also described her fall collection as a range that celebrates every person’s uniqueness. “True beauty and power are born out of strength of character and defined from the inside out. There is no one standard of beauty,” she said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé and Cox, who first met at the Grammys earlier this year, have not had the chance to see each other again. According to Cox, her idol wasn’t around during her photoshoot because she was just about to give birth to her twins. “But her team is incredible and there is so much love and respect for her vision and what she wants,” she shared.
