[Warning: Spoilers Alert!]
The promo trailer of the upcoming “Law and Order: SVU” Season 21 episode shows a rape victim. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) states that the female CEO of a famous wellness company was sexually assaulted by a fellow co-worker. But the business partner tells Benson that she has been robbing the company. The woman accuses the colleague but later she is blamed for embezzlement. The company believes that she has manipulated the whole situation to cover up the embezzlement accusations.
Meanwhile, a new character was introduced in episode 14 – Sergeant Hasim Khaldun (Ari’el Stachel). It is being speculated that he is the love interest for Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). But, Popculture reported fans' reactions over this new development in the show. Many fans have been eagerly waiting for Rollins to date A.D.A. Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino), but the introduction of this new character will spice things up for the trio.
Apart from a new character, this season has also witnessed the arrival of an old one – Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza). Showrunner and executive producer Warren Leight spoke with E! News about Barba.
“We wanted a private scene at the top of the episode of Barba checking in on Benson after Tucker's death. If we'd put him in the squadroom, we would have had to have him interact with Fin and Rollins as well, so we decided to have him check in from afar,” Leight said.
“It was also fun to speculate where he is in his life, now. The fact that he's investigating possible corruption in the Iowa caucus is an odd fluke. We wrote it last year,” he added.
