Lawyer Worries for Casey Anthony’s Safety After Release
A defense lawyer in the Casey Anthony case said he's worried for the Florida mom's safety when she becomes a free woman in a few days.
Jurors last week acquitted Casey Anthony of murdering her 2-year-old Caylee Anthony. She was convicted on four counts of lying to law enforcement and because of time served and good behavior, Casey Anthony will be free on Sunday.
The Associated Press reported that Cheney Mason told NBC television Monday he doesn't know where Anthony will go when she leaves a Florida jail on Sunday. The news agency also reported that Mason said Casey Anthony would need time and counseling to re-enter society after being jailed for nearly three years before and during her high-profile trial.
As for Casey Anthony's relationship with her parents, Mason that was pretty well burned after the trial, where her defense team contended she was sexually abused by her father. Her father, George Anthony, denied the claims, The Associated Press reported.
Casey Anthony refused a visit from her mother, Cindy Anthony on Friday.
But Casey Anthony isn't the only one allegedly being targeted.
Mason told TMZ that someone is threatening to kill her lawyers as well as the jurors who returned the 'not guilty' verdict.
TMZ reported that Mason said his team has been getting all kinds of threats at his office since the controversial verdict came in ... including one we just turned over to law enforcement.
But TMZ reported that Mason isn't worried and has laughed the threats off, claiming that those behind them are cowards.
