Lea Delaria-Chelsea Fairless Update: ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Star Splits From Partner After Scheduled Wedding Date
“Orange Is the New Black” star Lea Delaria is back on the market. After four years with her former fiancée, Chelsea Fairless, Delaria announced her Wednesday split on Instagram. The breakup announcement came days after they were scheduled to get married.
Delaria, who plays Big Boo on the hit Netflix series, didn’t seem heartbroken over the decision. She even Photoshopped a picture of her engagement photo with Fairless next to Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor. In the background, she had the 1987 hit “It Must Have Been Love” playing.
“Apparently this was an eerily prophetic choice of engagement photo as our relationship has since gone the way of David and Liza, with one small exception: our split is amicable,” she wrote to her 1 million followers. “Please exclude us from the tragic and basic celebrity breakup narrative. We were happy together for four years and will remain in each other's lives. In fact, we look forward to finding new ways to torture each other. We would like to thank our incredible friends and families for their love and support ❤ xoxo Lea & @female_trouble.” The post was like more than 112,000 times.
Delaria, 58, didn’t go into hiding after the split. She attended a prom-themed party. Even though the actress normally wears pant suits to red carpet occasions, she donned a lavender dress for Wednesday’s event, which seemed to be a wrap-up party for Season 5 of “OITNB.”
“Prom fabulous,” she captioned a photo with “OITNB” actress Emily Tarver. “Prom chic,” she wrote for another photo.
Not much is known about the new season, except that stars like Jackie Cruz, Danielle Brooks, Taryn Manning, Jessica Pimentel, Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Adrienne C. Moore and others will return to the show based on photos they posted to social media.
Season 5 of “Orange Is the New Black” does not yet have a release date. It will most likely arrive mid-2017.
